Thoda Thoda ..

Bollywood is always looking for nice romantic tracks - this song proves one of the highlights. Vivek Oberoi is always fortunate to get good songs for his movies - this song may be his new chartbuster. Composer duo Sachin-Jigar proves they are here to stay with this great track. They have FALTU, Kya Super Kool Hai Hum in their belt. They had some dabbling in romantic style with "Teri shirt ka mai button " but that was more of comic song. Now they enter with the real number one. This song is already on top in many online song listening sites.

Thoda thoda from Jayantbhai ki Love story is a sensual track with voices of Shreya Ghoshal and Sachin. Lyrics are penned by Priya Panchal. And not to forget beautiful Neha Sharma. She have the potential to be the new leading lady of Hindi films. I was not sure about this song before hearing this but now it is stuck in my mind and I wonder it will make it's place in your mind too!

Ek Cutting Chai

Some songs brings back memories of happy and sad times and some memories bring back some songs! A rainy evening, wind is blowing and you are nearly stuck somewhere. It's getting chilly and you need a hot drink. You just look around and a small tapri catches your eyes. You go there and start slurping the Cutting Chai - you find your heaven on earth. Similar memories came through today's blizzard. Just instead of rain it was snow still I remembered this song about everybody's favorite cutting chai (half cup tea).

Song is sung by then unfamous Kunal Ganjawala and friends and video has apla Makrand Deshpande.
Writing this while drinking hot ginger tea - cutting chai!!

Kannodu Kanbathellam - kehta hai mera dil.. Jeans

Mr. Rahman in his earlier years composed some awesome tracks for Tamil movies. Jeans was one of those lucky movies which received the hand of the god and it was very important part of it's success. Jeans had many notable songs and Shankar went all over the world to film the song "Ajooba"  with seven wonders. He made many technical advances in Indian cinema even before Bollywood tried them.

One such is this song "Kannodu Kanbathellam" in Tamil or "kehta hai mera dil" in Hindi. In the video Aishwarya Rai's brother plans to show her digital copy to fool twin lovers and their father. This video is really funny with all computer graphics.

I like this song for great voice of Nithyasree Mahadevan. She is eminent Carnatic singer from Chennai. ARR based this song on the basic Carnatic music . This song has best use of similar sounding words to make a peculiar rhythm complimenting original rhythm. Nithyasree has performed this very hard song beautifully. Kavita Krishnamurthy has sang the Hindi version which is not as impressive. Javed Akhtar disappointed me with simple lyrics and a dull song comparing with original Tamil.

Listen both versions and let me know which song you like more!! Post your comment....

Achcha Jee Main Haari ... Madhubala

14th Feb 1933 was birthday of the screen goddess of Indian cinema - Madhubala. In her short career she immortalized many roles in major hits. She worked with all superstars of 50's and 60's and still managed to steal the limelight. She was the ever beautiful dream Indian cinema had for a short time. On 23rd Feb 1969 she said her last words but she is still reigning the hearts of millions of fans.

Her perfect expressions and eminent beauty made this song a great watch. I don't need to describe her more just go ahead and watch the song. Just want to share one picture which shares her simplicity still engraves her beauty.

Aaja sanam...

One of the important films in the career of the pair of Raj Kapoor and Nargis was Chori Chori. Tho the film was a remake of a Hollywood hit, it tapped all the Bollywood emotions. And how could anybody forget most important part of great music and songs!!

Voices of Manna Dey and Lata made this Shankar-Jaikishan tune unforgettable. Nargis portrays the changing emotions with mastery. Or may be it was the real life chemistry between her and Raj Kapoor that made this possible. People start all sort of gossip; leaving them behind watch this great gem of Hindi cinema!

Watch "Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandani - Raj Kapoor, Nargis, Chori Chori Song" on YouTube

Jab Tak Hai Jaan ...

As I promised in last post this post is for the music review of Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

It started with that poem Aditya Chopra wrote - I was not impressed. Challa came out I started listening, Saans was just okay, and it struck with the Jiya re! Rahman does it again. This is a typical Rahman soundtrack with Yash Chopra heart! Don't think it as a cliched statement - this soundtrack comes to you slow - it is not strong and it gets you hooked up just when you are not expecting - you can not leave it and start listening it over and over again - that is a win for Mr. Rahman!! Lyrics wise it is far better than other Rahman songs as Yashji has take all the care to give this task to great penman Gulzar! And Gulzar writes a great poetry which suits Yashji's direction style - Romanticism unleashed.

Starting with Challa - Rabbi Shergil, one of my favorite Punjabi singers, sang this song. Tho lyrics are in Punjabi, they wont harm your listening or humming. Great starting notes which continues as a soft rock song. Telling you to "Keep walking alone - you do not need anybody", Gulzar gives you something to think.

Tho, not one of my favorite songs, Saans is a good love song. Mohit Chauhan returns with Rahman after Rockster. He and Sherya Ghoshal sings an intense composition but you won't find same Rahman here. More of an average love song - may be a good situation song - need to wait and see it in movie.

Rahman tries to create a dance number with Ishq Shava and succeeds at a certain extent. I was expecting a faster track with some more electro-music. This is a good song but is not a chartbuster. Even the singer choices can be better!

Now my favorite song from the album - Jiya Re. Neeti Mohan makes a great use of this opportunity and delivers a great song. You will not think this as a Rahman song but it's a complete mix of Yash Chopra style with Rahman. You get the energy of a free soul from this song - a crazy girl daring to live her life on her own terms transmits significant vibe - and Rahman has successfully composed Gulzar's lyrics!

One more mention: Heer. Harshdeep Kaur sings this Yash Chopra style Punjabi song. While listening the song you can imagine the dreamy girl waiting for her prince charming. That's the wining of Rahman and Gulzar.

After listening all these songs you will also agree - Rahman soundtrack with Yashji's heart!

Yashji will always be living in the loving hearts of Bollywood fans!

Ishq wala Love ...

Two music directors come together to sing this song, Salim Merchant from Salim-Sulaiman and Shekhar Ravjiani from Vishal-Shekhar, later also composing music for this movie SOTY Student of the year! They sing with Neeti Mohan coming from Channel V Popstars "Aasma". She is leaving her greatest time now - singing two sensations - this song and "Jiya re" from Jab Tak hai Jaan.

Karan Johar introduces three gen-next stars in this movie - a big start kids launcher.I have not seen the movie but this song has great visuals - Karan Johar never leaves behind anything to picturize a great song. Colors bursting in the snow - rich pink, fluorescent green, and chili hot red - with slow motion to capture awkward expressions on actors' faces!

The song itself is a good. Catchy tune - no wonder it stuck in my mind! I am still not completely in for the term "Ishq wala Love" but as you are making more and more Hinglish movies - it's a good term to keep you reminding about ishq while you are in love ;)

Enjoy!!
