Jab Tak Hai Jaan ...

As I promised in last post this post is for the music review of Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

It started with that poem Aditya Chopra wrote - I was not impressed. Challa came out I started listening, Saans was just okay, and it struck with the Jiya re! Rahman does it again. This is a typical Rahman soundtrack with Yash Chopra heart! Don't think it as a cliched statement - this soundtrack comes to you slow - it is not strong and it gets you hooked up just when you are not expecting - you can not leave it and start listening it over and over again - that is a win for Mr. Rahman!! Lyrics wise it is far better than other Rahman songs as Yashji has take all the care to give this task to great penman Gulzar! And Gulzar writes a great poetry which suits Yashji's direction style - Romanticism unleashed.

Starting with Challa - Rabbi Shergil, one of my favorite Punjabi singers, sang this song. Tho lyrics are in Punjabi, they wont harm your listening or humming. Great starting notes which continues as a soft rock song. Telling you to "Keep walking alone - you do not need anybody", Gulzar gives you something to think.

Tho, not one of my favorite songs, Saans is a good love song. Mohit Chauhan returns with Rahman after Rockster. He and Sherya Ghoshal sings an intense composition but you won't find same Rahman here. More of an average love song - may be a good situation song - need to wait and see it in movie.

Rahman tries to create a dance number with Ishq Shava and succeeds at a certain extent. I was expecting a faster track with some more electro-music. This is a good song but is not a chartbuster. Even the singer choices can be better!

Now my favorite song from the album - Jiya Re. Neeti Mohan makes a great use of this opportunity and delivers a great song. You will not think this as a Rahman song but it's a complete mix of Yash Chopra style with Rahman. You get the energy of a free soul from this song - a crazy girl daring to live her life on her own terms transmits significant vibe - and Rahman has successfully composed Gulzar's lyrics!

One more mention: Heer. Harshdeep Kaur sings this Yash Chopra style Punjabi song. While listening the song you can imagine the dreamy girl waiting for her prince charming. That's the wining of Rahman and Gulzar.

After listening all these songs you will also agree - Rahman soundtrack with Yashji's heart!

Yashji will always be living in the loving hearts of Bollywood fans!
