Ishq wala Love ...

Two music directors come together to sing this song, Salim Merchant from Salim-Sulaiman and Shekhar Ravjiani from Vishal-Shekhar, later also composing music for this movie SOTY Student of the year! They sing with Neeti Mohan coming from Channel V Popstars "Aasma". She is leaving her greatest time now - singing two sensations - this song and "Jiya re" from Jab Tak hai Jaan.

Karan Johar introduces three gen-next stars in this movie - a big start kids launcher.I have not seen the movie but this song has great visuals - Karan Johar never leaves behind anything to picturize a great song. Colors bursting in the snow - rich pink, fluorescent green, and chili hot red - with slow motion to capture awkward expressions on actors' faces!

The song itself is a good. Catchy tune - no wonder it stuck in my mind! I am still not completely in for the term "Ishq wala Love" but as you are making more and more Hinglish movies - it's a good term to keep you reminding about ishq while you are in love ;)

Enjoy!!

Viraaniya (Mehfil Mix)

Remixes are made in many different forms. This is called Mehfil mix - Mehfil stands for a traditional lounge party in places of Muslim royalty or noblemen. In modern India, Mehfil is seen as a musical program for a classical or semi-classical music and especially Gazals. And this mix satisfies the need of nice poetry (Gazal) rendered by none other than poet himself.

Javed Akhtar penned this song with all Sher (small pieces of poetry at start and in between). He also performs the task of reciting those Sher. The song has a nice music by Himesh Reshamiya. He has composed many nice tracks and this is one of those. Though this song is one of the songs in the era of Singer: Himesh, he is much more appealing for this slow and romantic track. A lover calling for his lost love and saying his life is nothing but just ruins of past without love.

Navarai & Dreamum Wakeuppam

The newest versatile composer in the Bollywood is making Hulla in the music industry and he has composed these two very different songs for the films released in back to back weeks. The composer is Amit Trivedi. I have already started posting his songs from Coke Studio "Nirmohiya". And that trend is continuing. I noticed him from Dev-D , the song "Emotional Atyachaar" was the rock-bomb on traditional film music.

The first movie is the Shridevi comeback - English Vinglish. This is a family entertainer with a housewife in the lead role. Amit has covered all the emotions of a Marathi housewife and composed the song Navarai Majhi. He perfectly shows vibe in the wedding and still manages to keep it subtle.

The second movie just released one week after this - Aiyyaa. Amit takes dream sequence of Rani Mukerjee in the South Indian films and composes Dreamum Wakeuppam. This is a vibrant song which doesn't let you take your breath. Dance performance of Rani and sex appeal of Prithviraj makes it one rocking song. The use of tamil numbers is just awesome.

Enjoy!!

PS: Both movies are directed by Marathi directors. Looks like with Amit, Gauri Shinde and Sachin Kundalkar are also ready to capture Bollywood.

Skyfall

.... gives me goosebumps for the next Bond! Adele, one of the best singers, takes you in the world of the 007. Soft starting turns in to the strong sensation of the music. It gives you feel of both late 60's and still somewhere in 2012.

It is already a hit, placing number one on many charts. No wonder the Bond will get a great opening. Now with the internet it doesn't take long to get 12 million views to a song. I guess Eon production is using a great marketing strategy for Skyfall. They started with trailer, continuing the pace with the song and also putting old bond movies on netflix to get audience hooked up with Bond and attract them to the theaters.

Let's go back to the song. Adele is a great artist and she has already proved it with her previous album. This song is little bit different tho. Her voice is seductive. She perfectly imitates the emotions of the Bond girl - asking James - they will stay together. I suppose many girls will be ready to tell it Daniel Craig listening this song! It's not a very hard song to perform and follows the typical pattern of the Bond theme. Tho that's the point of this song to give a great start to any Bond movie.

Get ready to welcome Mr. Bond - James Bond !!

Gangnam Style ..

Finally it reached India ... Just in morning my brother asked me about it and I thought it's a high time now to post it here. This song was stuck in my mind for a long time though it has released only for three months - it has more than 265,000,000 views on youtube. My friend also listened it on radio here in US.Mr. Psy is rocking the world with his latest sensation "Gangnam Style".

If you review the song - it has catchy music which makes you start dancing immediately even if you are not familiar with the language. The rhythm is perfect for a club dance number and lyrics are smart and simple "oppan/oppa Gangnam Style"  which means Oppa (older guy/ brother) is dancing in the style from Gangnam (Place near Seoul, South Korea). Also use of words like "hey sexy lady" makes it appealing to audience all over the world.

And I don't need to talk about the legendary dance performance by Psy - I have also imitated his horseback riding dance. Fortunately did not make that video haha!! So go ahead and get on your imaginary horse and start Gangnam Style!!

Tu Aaja Mere Mahi...

I am not a big fan of Emraan Hashmi, but boy he has got a number of hit songs. I guess his songs have played a huge role in his success. Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Zeher, Jannat the list just goes on. This song particularly was stuck in my head for the whole weekend.

New music duo of Toshi and Sharib Sabri had made this beautiful song. I don't feel there is anything new in it but it really makes it compiling to song to listen and continue to listen. Nice rhythm and lyrics with good use of Toshi's voice.

Kiska Chehra ...

Some of the films you remember because of their songs, and this one comes close. Tarkieb, a multi-starer film with Tabu, Milind Soman, Nana Patekar and many more. Jagjit Singh made many melodious movie songs. Kiska Chehra is sung by him with Alka Yagnik. It was penned by Nida Fazli and composed by Aadesh Srivastava.

Two lovers are telling each other that they don't want to see any one else as they have chosen each other after seeing the world. He is saying I have seen moon, flowers, clouds, firefly and still I can not compare your beauty with anything. A nice love poem and great voice of Jagjit Singh made this song one to remember a long time.
