Kiska Chehra ...

Some of the films you remember because of their songs, and this one comes close. Tarkieb, a multi-starer film with Tabu, Milind Soman, Nana Patekar and many more. Jagjit Singh made many melodious movie songs. Kiska Chehra is sung by him with Alka Yagnik. It was penned by Nida Fazli and composed by Aadesh Srivastava.

Two lovers are telling each other that they don't want to see any one else as they have chosen each other after seeing the world. He is saying I have seen moon, flowers, clouds, firefly and still I can not compare your beauty with anything. A nice love poem and great voice of Jagjit Singh made this song one to remember a long time.

Chupke se sun...

Sometimes some songs are so soothing and still they have one uneasiness in them. This fells in the same category. Shankar Ehsaan Loy made an awesome music for Mission Kashmir. Preity Zinta and Hritik Roshan act in this song.

The music takes you to the paradise of the India - Kashmir and at the same time shows you the rage in the situation. Dal lake is very calm and quiet - it has shikara with lovers and still the lover can not concentrate. He wants to achieve something else - something bad - something which is going on for a long time in his head . From childhood he has seen the attacks and war and he feels this calmness of the lake is fake and there is still war going on.

Ek Pal Ka Jeena ...

The big entry of the next superstar in the Bollywood was marked by this hit number. He surprised everyone with his good acting and great dancing skills. Hrithik Roshan made it big!  Every child in every house was obsessed of dancing and every school or college social had this number performed at least 2 or 3 times.

Lucky Ali marked his debut in Hindi film singing with a Filmfare with this film. Though the song was different, he had nomination for this song too. Grooving composition of Rajesh Roshan and Ibrahim Ashq (Lyrics). The song gives a great start for youth philosophy of "You did not bring anything in this world and you will take nothing with you (after death) so just spread the music, laughs, and Love".

Tung Tung

MTV India is actually doing a great job of making some music and promoting different trends in the music. I thought after some weird reality shows they are back to their basics - M - Music TV. This time though it's not the Coke studio. A new program this year was Sound Trippin. Sneha Khanwalker visited parts of India and collected different sounds of those parts and added them together with earthy voices from those parts. With a tadka of some dub-step she had a awesome album for the first season.

Today's song is from Nooran sisters, so it was Sneha who found them and after they sang in coke studio. But she captured various sounds of Punjab - the sound of announcer, factory, cane crusher and saaz (Musical Instruments) which is the main part of the song.

Husna...

Husna .. a legendary track written and sung by Piyush Mishra and recreated by Hitesh Sonik. This track is about thoughts of a lover who is separated from his love because of the partition of India in 1947. He wants to know if is it all same in two countries - if there are same love stories of Heer-Ranza - if there are same festivals - if there are same air and light and everything or is it changed after we separated ?

This song gives goosebumps every time I hear it. I guess it is combination of music and the voice of Piyush. At the end Piyush gives a punch asking if the Pakistan also cries in the night similar to India (remembering the old love)!

Allah Hoo

The Coke studio fever continues! I am always the fan of Sufi songs and this is one of those moments when you connects to the almighty no matter what your religion is! It goes beyond just music and makes your sole humble.

Great rendition by Nooran sisters and Hite Sonik. The nice work of Coke studio of finding talents all over India and giving them light to perform on the national level.
